New Cross peoples library was opened by local group after Lewisham Council closed all but one of 6 borough libraries in may 2011.
Now known as New Cross Learning the space is run on a voluntary basis and open 4 days a week. There is a book shop and book donations are sorted and sometimes sold to raise much needed funding to keep the place open.
The 10 computer workstations (soon to be increased to 14) are very popular with library users. Broadband connectivity was recently upgraded to keep up with demand and the centre will soon begin regular training sessions.
